Celebrate what it means to be from the West-End of Newcastle at this family friendly performance event featuring the best in live local music, poetry, storytelling, discussion and food! Created by the community, for the community and featuring performances from Tahmina Ali and Black Moss.

The West-End of Newcastle and surrounding area represents a vibrant mix of cultures, interests, ages, and beliefs, and we would like to hear from you! If you have any love-filled memories, key life moments or eye-opening photography relating to the area please send them to us, a selection will be exhibited at the event.

Tahmina Ali

Tahmina is a British Bangladeshi, Newcastle-upon-Tyne based spoken word poet, creative freelancer and young mother. Tahmina has performed at various events, poetry nights across the country and was selected for the prestigious BBC Words First programme. Tahmina also presented her poetry radio show on Fast FM for two years running, hosts her own Open Mic poetry night called Strictly Spoken and was awarded the ‘ABC Arts and Culture Award’ for 2018 and 2019. Tahmina uses her poetry as a means to encourage positive change, her writing is generally influenced by identity, culture, social events and life as a young mother.

Black Moss

Black Moss are a guitar duo who perform through abstract story telling and sharing intimate pictures of memories. Mollie's soul steeped vocals intertwine with Jimmy's explorative hybrid of flamenco, classical and modern fingerstyle guitar.
