In 2014 we began two 3 month paid internships as part of a scheme run between Santander and Roehampton University. Two recent graduates of the University worked full time at Poet in the City, supporting Arts Event Management and our Human Rights Programming strand.
‘I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with two highly respected and credible organizations and over the time I have been with them, I have gained new skills that will benefit me in all walks of life. As a human rights and events assistant, my role involved exploring a range of familiar and new sectors such as marketing, research, communications and social media….Overall, I had an amazing experience interning with both organizations and I have left with new skills which have broadened my horizons in the working world. I hope to continue volunteering with both amazing charities.’ Sophia Deen, 2014
This year the Santander Internship continued in collaboration with Royal Holloway University. English and Drama Graduate Charlotte Cole has been working full time at Poet in the City this autumn, supporting our Programme Manager and CEO with a wide range of events and marketing, and taking a lead on the launch of our new youth engagement scheme, Poet in the City Producers.
“The internship has given me an invaluable wealth of knowledge that I can take with me as I launch into a career within the arts. Having previously completed two weeks of work experience last year with Poet in the City, it was great to be invited back on a longer term basis that allowed me to be more involved in the organisation’s work. Assisting with the programme of events at Poet in the City has been a brilliant experience so far, and I hope that many students in the future will see the fantastic range of benefits that an opportunity like this can give you” Charlotte Cole, 2015
