teacher comments

"The sessions had a great impact on the students. They were excited to learn that a poem could be constructed using many varied and simple techniques... pupils were eager to begin to create their own... attendance at the residency was considered a positive and worthwhile experience... The pupils' work has been displayed around the school and laminated copy was also produced for every student to take home to show their parents... Overall, the residency was a great success: Students, staff and the whole school community have benefited from it... It was a pleasure to be a part of it."

- Catherine Munroe, a teacher, about our recent placement at Knowsley Hey School.

"This successful and worthwhile project, offered at the end of the Scottish school year, was skilfully implemented during the last few days of term. The whole venture had a very positive impact on the children and was a credit to all those concerned... One member of staff commented that Liz's sessions had changed their perception of teaching poetry, and clearly Liz changed the perceptions of some of the pupils too! ... This is the first time Poet in the City has been implemented north of the border but perhaps, in the light of its success, further residencies might now be offered across Scotland in the coming year, with the chance for participants to share their work and experiences and learn from each other."

- Cathrin Howells from 'Literature in Learning' commenting on a recent placement at Buckie High School.
