Pop Up Poetry at Kings Place

20th February 2015 18:30
Kings Place
90 York Way, London, N1 9AG
Poet in the City presents the first in a series of free pre-concert poetry events at Kings Place. Acclaimed poets Will Burns and Malene Engelund performpoetry and music which nods to Americana and is grounded in folk roots. This special session takes place just before the Diana Jones + Martin Simpson concert in Hall One.

Will Burns bring his unique poetic voice into play with the live twang of that quintessentially American sound, the lap-steel guitar. Malene Engelund brings to life a world infused with folk tales and myth. Both poets will provide a fantastic taste of poetry spoken live, experienced direct.

Award winning singer-songwriter Diana Jones will also be giving a special live performance at this event and talking about how poetry has influenced her work.

Will Burns was one of the Faber New Poets of 2014. Malene Engelund is co-editor of the Days of Roses anthology.

Taking inspiration from the evening’s music, these free events will showcase vibrant new poetry and provide a fresh take on everything from storytelling to stand up. A brand new way to experience poetry and music, and a fantastic start to your evening at Kings Place. Watch this space for more Pop-up Poetry in 2015...
