Emily Dickinson - Copland Settings

09th June 2018 16:00
Hall Two, Kings Place
90 York Way
This recital will interleave the indelible poetry of Emily Dickinson with Copland’s jewel-like settings, sung by acclaimed soprano Claire Booth with pianist Christopher Glynn, with an introduction from former opera singer and poet Richard Scott.

Emily Dickinson’s tender, rhythmic poems have been set to music by countless composers and songwriters from Eric Whitacre to Natalie Merchant. Aaron Copland’s wonderfully varied 12 poems of Emily Dickinson hone in on some of Dickinson’s most intuitively musical works. Experience the settings live as we celebrate the verses which have become a model catalogue of Dickinson’s poems attracting musicians from across the globe.

This event is presented as part of Poetry & Lyrics Festival 2018.
