Poet in the City, in partnership with UCL, was delighted to present a special event featuring celebrated Peruvian poet, Carlos Henderson.

Carlos Henderson was born in Lima in 1940. He has published a dozen collections of poems, in Spanish as well as French. He has been director of the Association des Amis de César Vallejo since 2004. His most recent work, L’excès noir (Black Excess), has been critically acclaimed internationally.

This reading is the launch event for the Translating 'Live' Poetry project, supported by the AHRC. In partnership with The School of European Languages, Culture and Society at UCL, Poet in the City brings to London celebrated poets from Hungary, Holland, France, Germany, the Faroe Islands and Italy, for showcase events at Europe House, in a series entitled Contemporary European Poets. Events will include live readings by the poets, with all poems read both in the original language and in brand new specially commissioned English translations.

Poetry will read in the original Spanish by Carlos Henderson, with English translations by Professor Stephen Hart, UCL.
