Poetry & Lyrics Roundtable

Kings Place

Do you feel part of your own community?

How can poetry & music help you understand your place in Islington?

What song makes you feel at home?

Join us as we explore how poems, lyrics and songs can help us to feel at home in our surroundings. Looking specifically at social inclusion within the London Borough of Islington, how can young people utilise poetry and music to come together as a community?

Poet in the City Producers present an evening of discussion and debate exploring how poetry and music can help give us a collective sense of place within increasingly disconnected communities within London.

Conversations will be facilitated by Icie Music and stimulated by key community leader Jonzi B who will be speaking about his own experiences of working with young people in Islington. Poetic chronicler Brother Portrait will be joining us to open the roundtable with a performance and produce a new piece of work inspired by and reflecting the discussions of the day.
