Take a moment for yourself amidst the bustling city in an intimate encounter with one of the UK's leading contemporary poets, unburden your stresses and leave with a personalised mindfulness poem from our worldly word gurus.

Rachel Long is a poet and the founder of Octavia – Poetry Collective for Womxn of Colour, which is housed at Southbank Centre, London. She was shortlisted for Young Poet for Laureate for London in 2014 and awarded a Jerwood/Arvon Foundation mentorship in 2015. Rachel has run poetry workshops for The Poetry School, The Serpentine Galleries and at University of Oxford. She is Assistant Tutor to Jacob Sam La-Rose on the Barbican Young Poets programme 2015-present.

Madi Maxwell-Libby is a comedy writer-performer, spoken word artist and facilitator. Writing commissions include poetry pieces for the London Underground, BBC One, Huffington Post, Nationwide, KFC and the Natural History Museum. Her solo show, MASSIVE SENSE OF URGENCY, about an office temp who tries to understand capitalism using power-tools and mime, previewed at the Roundhouse in June 2017 after development support from Battersea Arts Centre and Camden People's Theatre. Madi won the Roundhouse Poetry Slam in 2016 and was a finalist in Hammer & Tongue's UK National Final Slam at the Royal Albert Hall 2017.

Kate Wakeling is a poet and ethnomusicologist. Kate’s debut collection of children’s poetry, Moon Juice (The Emma Press) was described by The Sunday Times as “clever, funny, inspiring”, won the 2017 CLiPPA and was nominated for the 2018 Carnegie Medal. Kate’s poetry pamphlet for adults, The Rainbow Faults, is published by The Rialto and her poems have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies including Magma, Oxford Poetry, The Guardian, The Best British Poetry 2014 (Salt) and The Forward Bookn of Poetry 2016 (Faber & Faber). Kate loves meeting family audiences and supporting young people to explore, enjoy and create poetry. Recent and forthcoming poetry performances include the Imagine Children’s Festival at Southbank Centre, the Stratford-Upon-Avon Poetry Festival and the Cheltenham Literature Festival. 

This event is presented as part of Thought Fest – a week-long festival of interactive experiences exploring sustainability, wellbeing technology and the future plus live music and good-mood food and drink from Regents Place and the Knowledge Quarter.
