Poet in the City was delighted to present an evening with one of Italy’s most exciting contemporary poets, Elisa Biagini.

Elisa Biagini is one of the leading voices in contemporary Italian poetry. Her work is sparse, powerful and deeply metaphorical. Her most recent collection, ‘Nel Bosco’, was published in 2007, and her poems have appeared in several Italian and American reviews and anthologies.

Along with her own work, Elisa translates a number of contemporary American poets for Italian anthologies and collections, and has taught Creative Writing at universities in Italy and the U.S. She has presented several installation projects and has collaborated with musicians, artists and choreographers.

Elisa’s poetry has been translated into several languages, and she performed her work in both English and Italian.

Carmela Pietrangelo conducted an interview with Elisa.
